Director of Internal Communications
Partners HealthCare
As Director of Internal Communications for Partners HealthCare, David King is leading a new department, established in 2016 through a comprehensive process improvement initiative, to address corporate imperatives around employee engagement and to build upon the organization’s recent decision to consolidate all corporate departments under one roof. David’s primary objective is to provide a shared communications experience for all Partners HealthCare employees in support of the organization’s four-part mission of patient care, research, teaching and community service.
David leads a team of communication content and digital media specialists who have developed an internal communications strategy for 4,500 corporate staff and also lead communications for system-wide initiatives for approximately 68,000 staff across all Partners member institutions. Through a client-service model and using progressive communication tools including a newly-consolidated intranet with profile-based user experiences and other comprehensive digital media, David and his team ensure the prioritization, development, distribution and evaluation of communication content to advance strategic objectives.
In his prior roles with Partners HealthCare, David directed communications for a $1.2 billion, five year initiative to implement the Epic integrated health record across 13 Partners and Partners-affiliated hospitals and healthcare organizations in eastern Massachusetts. He also served as Director of Communications and Public Affairs for North Shore Medical Center, the second largest community hospital system in Massachusetts. David’s current work draws on earlier communication management roles with Boston Children’s Hospital and regional real estate brokerage organizations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations/Mass Communications from Boston University.
